Colour Slam: Lewis Baxter and Madeleine Duflot

Artist maker duo Lewis Baxter and Madeleine Duflot invite you to Colour Slam, an exhibition of Lewis’ painting and Madeleine’s textiles. Both artists share the design practice ‘Moss’ and collaborate frequently. Colour Slam will feature works from their respective practices and shared residency at The Centre for Recent Drawing, undertaken throughout April and May. 

Lewis and Madeleine share an interest in the foregrounding of process. Lewis prioritises an explorative approach to painting, wherein fragments of ideas coalesce as a result of layered obstruction and emphasis. Madeleine uses tufting as a way to draw functional works that retain a playful and candid quality, where colours are treated as material, playing a decisive role in her approach.
